car bottoming out, need stopper input
I'm running 295/35/18 on 18x10 wheels. My 98 cobra is lowered with eibach lowering springs, pro kit I believe. I have 31 spline axels also. My axel is off set by about 1/2" pushing my passenger side tire out a bit(a noticable bit) . So my passenger side rear tire is rubbing the fender lip. It's actually making slits into my drag radials (new ones at that). I took it to a body shop and asked if they could bend up the lip and they said not w/o it cracking the paint. Then I asked if they could cut some of the lip off and he said that wouldn't work due to even if they cut it, the tire will just hit to where they cut it. It's hitting so far into the tire that the tire extends a bit passed the fender. He said that I could get stoppers to put somewhere near the tires, I'm not exactly sure what he's talking about but he said they'll stop my car from bottoming out basically. Now I did install new adjustable shocks today and it helped with the little bumps but the big bumps are still bottoming out the car. Can anyone tell me about the stoppers that he might be talking about?

The only thing that will help or change is a diff bumpstop up by the topside of the pumpkin, also you can roll the lip without cracking the paint you can rent it from tirerack or by one, it is made by woodward...the trick is you have to use a blowdryer/heatgun to the paint to keep it from cracking and then it will not. That should solve your problem...worst case you have to thing about a diff lowering setup....
