I would be extremely careful going to boost in 5th gear the ford ecm goes very lean in 5th gear which could be disasturous under boost.
I'm the original poster, and thanks for that bit of information.
I will talk to Chris Winters down at Crazy Horse Racing, he does my work for me, and writes for MM&FF mag, I'll see what he says about 5th gear under boost.

and it doesnt JUST take Horsepower to get up 2 200mph... its all in the Aerodynamics how well the Vehicle slices through the wind... I mean look at bikes..... hey have like 140horsepower :-) the Weight/Horsepower Ratio is INSANE!!

Whats it matter? The car has no idea what gear its in. The A/F is just goverened by the RPMS, maf, and tps.

I liked how the Bugati hunkered down when the driver hit the "speed" button. that is one cool @ss effect. anyone remember when the thunderbirds had that airbag system? I wonder how that could be applied to a Mustang.

This is just a educated guess so bare with me.

You are correct in saying the computer in thecar doesnt know, but the engine has a bigger load placed on it because of the over drive and higher wind speeds putting physical resistance on the car( think of it as driving up a hill that gets steeper and steeper towards the top.) I know supras that make high speed runs in 6th have to be very careful about going lean even with a solid tune (with AEM engine management system), where as in 4th and 5th there is no issue. Think back to when you'd go up a hill in a crappy carand it'd start pinging. Due to the bigger load on the engine it would go lean, same kinda issue at hand here.

That being said, if you are doing 160+ in a mustang you have a pretty serious death wish.

Well I'm not sure either. I would guess 155-160mph. I have a 94gt and i had that up to 146mph. 135mph in 4th.

Ive been to 145mph & really wouldnt suggest trying for any more even tho the car was still picking up speed. I guess no more than 155.

I seriously doubt your car can go that fast. My bud in a 2003 Turbo T/A with 495 RWHP can only hit 160-170 hp in 6th gear before he gets unstable and the car pretty much stops pulling. the cars are similar enough, that I'm betting you'd see a best of about 160 mph. on the other hand, another bud in a 98 S/C Vette can go 150 mph in 4th and still have 5th and 6th to play with. He's just too scared to run it any faster.

I'm trying to find a vid of Top Gear where they took a new Bugati to 253 mph. It took 1001 RWHP to get it there. Kinda puts things into perspective.
haha, i was just looking for that video too, they had it all calculated, the force mother nature was pushing against them vs the aerodynamics of the car vs the hp needed to reach 253mph..... they used a 16cyl w/ 4 turbos!!!!!!!!!
