Default T-5 in a 03 Mustang GT?

Can you put a T-5 Tranny on our new edge mustangs? I was looking into the "Super T-5" kits and they look kinda intresting. What yall think? They are cheaper then your average T-56 or TKO but handel just about as much power.

If you can find a bellhousing, which may be a challenge, its basically teh same thing as a T-45.

I am EXTREMELY sceptical that any T5, no matter how modified, is going to compare equally to a 56 or TKO. It simply just doesn't have the same size componets in there, and its just not the same as a true aftermarket transission.

TKO FTW

Honestly, you would be a FOOL to spend all the money you have on your car, having a built shortblock/fuel system etc etc etc and put anything under the car that says T5 on it.

The TKO is IMO simply the best manual tranmission offering for our cars. Its a great tranmission at a price thats fairly reasonable for what you get, it shifts really great and doesn't have too much road noise. Its far stronger than any of the stock units and it doesn't have any tendancy to destroy syncroisers like the stockers.

Do you have TKO? If you do is it 500/600 and what Clutch n' Flywheel combo do you have? Plus do you like the Hurst Shifter that it comes with or would you trade it for MGW?

I love my TKO. I went thru 2 different T45 before I decided I wasn't gonna pull the LTs out again.

I went with the 500 because it has the shorter first gear. The only real difference in the two is that first gear in the 500 is more agressive, and thus weaker. I have never heard of anyone acutally breaking the gear.

I went with the 500 with the 10 spline input, though I wish I had gone with the 26 spline cause its stronger. However, I don't think I am ever going to make enough instant torque to break the input with a centrifugal anyway, so it doesn't really bother me.

I run a new stock style flywheel (that is to say non alumuim) and a spec stage 3 clutch.

On the shifter, I really like the hurst but it has a bad habit of letting me miss 4th if I screw up. I have been thinking of the MGW but I know that alot of it is my fault. I have a NASTY habit of pulling back AND toward me when going for 4th, which leads to missed shifts. Honestly, I would like ot try the MGW but I don't want to spend the 200 bucks just to have it feel about the same :0

lol I feel ya....

When you launch what RPMs are you at and whats your estimated RWTQ level at those RPMS? Give or take because I know Dynos do charts on 4th gear and not 1st.

I honestly have no idea.

Lets put it this way, its going to take ALOT to acutally break first gear. Even with the 26 spline input the input shaft will almost always break before the gear itself.

And that first gear... man I love it. It still sets you back into 2nd at about the right RPM, but its more agressive than the stocker.. just has a great feel.
