Will a TR-3650 Just "Drop-In" a 1999 GT?

Since it will end up costing too much to have my t45 rebuilt, the 3650 is another option. Is this a direct drop-in and go replacement in a 99 GT? I know the speedo gear (or is it the entire speedometer sensor unit) has to be replaced, but is there anything else?

There is a difference in where the shifter mounts on newer 3650's. From the pics i've looked at, the newer ones have a shifter that hangs off the back of the transmission, instead of being right above the mount. I'm not sure what year they changed in though. Also, I've heard there is a ring in the speedometer sensor(or the sensor itself) that needs to be changed.

Are the shifters compatible?

The 3650 is a POS compared to the t45? I thought it was the better of the two. I definately can't afford a TKO, and I just wanna get my car back on the road.

Is your mount on the very end of the transmission, and the shifter right above it? Or does your shifter hang off the back? I think 01 has a different mount than 99. Mine uses the one like this(says 96-04, but I know they were different in 96-98 at the least)...

What all was required to swap yours out?

the shifter sits slight higher than the trans and its in the middle of the tail shaft on the 3650. the mount will b fine on a 99. just make sure the 3650 didnt come out a 05+. all i needed was a shifter
