Default Shifter install

[hr]I am installing my MGW shifter right now and had a quick question. Any body have any suggestions or tips on how to get the stock shifter off. Thanks in advance.

Screw the stock handle and shift **** on and apply pressure SIDE TO SIDE until it pops off. Make sure you are also applying pressure to the baes of the shifter. It will take some elbow grease.

Stick with it man, removing the stock shifter is the hardest part of the installation process, once you get that thing off, the rest is gravy.

Have as putty knife ready to scrape off the old RTV which will be on the transmission after you remove the stock shifter. Unfortunately I did the installation late at night, did not have access to a putty knife and had I use my fingernails to remove all that gunk. [:'(]
