Then it's being sucked through the PCV valve, or you are burning it... A dry/wet tcompression check will tell you if you are burning it, if the compression check shows that it's burning oil then toss the 5W-20 (I can't bring myself to do that here in Florida and run 10W-30 synthetic in my '03 GT, and get something heavier.I don't know what your ambient temps are like in AZ, but it it never gets much below 35°F and the compression check indicates you are burning oil then I'd switch to Valvoline MaxLife 20W-50.I've run that in every car we've owned here in FL once they get along in wear, and run all of them to 200k miles plus. My '90 Miata has 325k on it when I sold it, the last 80k with a M45 Eaton s/c at 8 psi...

I checked the valve covers for any oil and didn't see any. I know I was staring right at the pcv valve and didn't realize it. Can any one post a pic of what I'm to look for? Sorry for the dumb request this is starting to get depressing[sm=smiley24.gif].
Before the panic attack, how are you checking the oil,how much did you put in, and did you check it soon after changing it?It should be checked when the engine is warm, afterit has been stopped for 5-10 minutes...checking it right after shutting down could give a false reading of as much as 1/2 quart low...You should put in 6 quarts total, including whatever you prefilled the filter with...5-10 minutes after stopping, after your first drive after changing, check it and make that your base reading (assuming you put in 6 quarts)...And, when you top it off after finding it 1/2 quart low does it use another 1/2 quart in the next 1000 miles? In the last, the PCV valve may be sticking open which would cause oil from the cam/valve cover to but sucked into the intake--with no visible sign of leakage in the area of the PCV valve--usually this is accompanied by a rough idle, however modern PCM computers can mask idle related issues to a great extent.
I have always checked 1st thing in the morning before the car is started and has sat overnight. I'll swing past Auto Zone to see about replacing the pcv valve.
