Default Witch cold air intake, 96GT

I see all the cold air intake kits out there and then I see where people say it's a waste of money unless you have the PI heads. I don't have the PI's at this point but it may be in the near future. I am sick of popping my hood and seeing my K&N filter in my modified air box sticking out, looks kinda shady but made a huge improvement on power. I like the smooth look of the JLT but for $219 is it a waste on a 96 GT with stock exhaust to the cats, and stock throttle body setup? It seems to me I may be better off doing the high flow cats and leaving the intake alone.Anyone have any real exp. with a nonPI 4.6

They are good by just letting your car take in a lil more air. Dont expect 12-14 hp look for like 2 and thats even with the PI heads. so dont feel bad. My 96 i had responded better to the cold air with cause i had a throttle body spacer and plenum.

You won't see a noticeable gain with a CAI on a 2V mustang, period. JLT gives the most hp gain, which may be 6-8 hp or so. The rest might give 2-5. Either get a JLT, leave it stock, or get a cheap kit from ebay.

I already took out the silencer and cut a hole in the top ofthe box and even that made a huge difference. After that free mod my engine spins up so much faster to the higher rpm mark.

Let me ask you this then, is there a intake out there that will give me more power rather than going for the PI heads and if so what needs to be done to the new intake to get it to work with the non PI heads? This is only a play toy till I can order a new car this summer from another manufacturer so I don't really want to go to deep.
