This past weekend when i was on the road i decided to race a motorcycle even though there was a slim chance i would win, my car wouldn't go pass 120mph. Two weeks ago I race a 300GT and did 145+ before I had to slow down. Anybody know what the problem might be.
So.... who won?

I gave the 300GT a head-start and still blowed it away and with the bike I stayed close until he hit the next gear.

145 is way too fast for the street, we all know this.

I put my car to 135 once, it was still pulling and I backed off. Pucker factor was too much, its just not worth it. Its not smart at all.

Is this the only thing you are basing your problem on? Any less power down low?

I'm thinking that it's just environmental conditions allowed you to get that fast to start with. Going down hill, tail wind, cold air, etc... Ford lists 139 as the max speed for the 02 GT.

Yes, we all know this is too fast & if Johnny Law catchs ya - impound time

This might sound stupid, but are our stock tires V rated? If not 145 on an H rated tire is not a good idea.

no love for the high speeds here. i'll have to take a picture of my speedo since it feels like im the only one to bury the speed needle on one of these cars on the highway. i can hit 145 in my car no problem, slows down a bit after 125-130 but 145 is no problem, getting to 165 takes a little more road.

note i've only done this in northern michigan with little or no traffic for the most part. but i did run with a very old man in a 03 or 04 cobra for about 25 miles on I-75 untill we got to the m59 exit and i had to leave the run. thats the hardest driving i've ever done. maybe its the fact that he's been driving for the past 200 years or the fact that he drives what he drives, but he had my palms sweating and knuckles white the entire time i was chasing him.

[sm=badidea.gif], next time try allowing the car into 4th gear.

[sm=rant.gif], oh, and do you realize how stupid it is to go that fast?

im guessing 165. thats what i would think considering the speedo goes to 150 and i've rode the needle on the stopper.

if i can remember my camera on my way up north this weekend i'll take a picture...well have a rider take a picture.
