Air intake box
Alright thers a somewhat of a round box that my airfilter is in. i have removed the silencer on it. i was wondering if it would be a bad idea to jst take the box out and leave it with the straight air filter

RE: Air intake box
Bad idea. You'd be sucking in hot engine air instead of the cooler air from the fender well.
Besides, unless you cut off the plastic, you won't be able to hold on the air filter. |
RE: Air intake box
We did that with my stang, and the filter is secured to the pipe with zip ties. K&N was already there, so we cleaned it up and the car runs a lot better than before. I gotta work on getting a nice pipe tho.

RE: Air intake box
if you want to open up your filter get a K&N
http://www.4filters.com/Fuel-Injecti..._p_5-1061.html that is the cheapest price i found for that one and according to K&N's website it adds the most horsepower |
RE: Air intake box
In all honesty, you wont see any gains with a K&N CAI vs stock with a K&N drop in on 2v's. The stock intake is just as good as theirs. The only time you see gains is when the filter is stuck into the fenderwell itself, something like a JLT.
