Gears? Motive or Ford Racing
 

I've looked through here a lot and read about a lot of the big dogs and it seems that most people go with 4.10s from either Ford Racing or Motive. Which are the best for a 98 GT and why? And another question I was wondering about was if one set of gears will fit all years of Mustang? (i.e. one listed as for a 99-04 will fit a 94-98)

I beleive they are the exact same thing. Just different names

I have motive 4.10s But would say get ford racing ones because they are eaiser to set up. Some shops dont like motive because they actually have to work to get them in right. With the ford ones they just use the same shims.

i dont see how motive could be better suited for your car than something with the ford name on it could be

also, lots of members on this board have ford gears and i've never seen any complaint threads, so i chose frpp

They are pretty much the same. Motive usaully gets the surplus stuff. Like my 4.10 was out of an explorer. No miles just extras from the factory. But people always say stick with a motorsport. To me they are identical...

For the most part Motive makes the FRPP gears... if you see a M on the end of the FRPP gears, then I believe Motive made them, lol...

It doesn't matter which one you go with.. it's all the same really.. just make sure you take it to a experianced installer.

I've heard a few complaints of Motives whining a bit.Never heard FRPP complaints. Could have just been the install on the Motives, though.

Ive heard of complaints from them all. Its all in how they are installed. THE INSTALLER IS THE IMPORTANT PART. You need to have someone who knows what they're doing install them. On a side note, Moser makes gears too, 4.10s for $170 aint bad andpersonally I'd trust Moser.
