28 mpg !!!

We took my recently purchased 04 GT on a long interstate trip this week and I recorded gas mileage at each fill-up. The worst it got was 25 (included some city driving) and the best was 28 which was all interstate, using cruise control. I didn't buy this car with gas mileage as a major point, but I'm pretty pleased that it gets nearly as good mileage as my wife's 4 cylinder car. Is this normal mpg for a GT stick?

RE: 28 mpg !!!

It consistently get 23 to 24 MPG in my 100 mile round trip daily commute that's about 5 miles with 5 or 6 stoplights at 45-50, 15 miles at 65-70, and 30 miles on I-95 at 75-85--and this is alldone withconscience attention to notbeing last in line! I can run it down to 20 to 21cruising those 30 miles on I-95 at 90-100+ with the AC on...The lowest I've seen was around 20 when I first got the car withno tune and no intake mods and a combination of around town and "let's see what this thing can do" open road jaunts--the tweaked 93 octane tunew/ thePro Products TB and plenum delivers 1 to 1-1/4 MPG more than running regular.BTW-My supercharged (12 psi) '92 Miatadeliverednearly the same economy (23.5 to 25 MPG) on the same drive. i get about 20-22, mostly rural driving with some highway and stop and go in town. i also get on it hard a few times a tank, let it idle more than i should and rev it to hear the exhaust.

I don't really know how much I get now, when I installed my gauges my brother in law wired something up wrong and the computer resets everytime I start the car.

RE: 28 mpg !!!

Welcome to the world's best secret about the MUSTANG, in the Summer on a trip, avg about 75 mph, I got 31mpg, and my car is slightly modded (still a stock tune). Even more amazing, my '04 C-5 Corvette got 32 mpg coming back from Florida last week! With gas approaching $3 a gallon again, yeah gas mileage does count for me!

RE: 28 mpg !!!

If I granny my car on my 100 mile daily commute I can get 32 mpg. This is driving 55 mph on a mostly level road using a Steeda timing adjuster.Other mods that had an effect on mileage was the Steeda UDP's andtrimming the air silencer coupled with removing the screen from the MAF,these mods gave a twompg increase also.
