H or X Pipe for 96 GT?

I already have a Flowmaster 3chamber cat back and need to do something about all of those stock cats unde my car.Do I go X mid pipe or H mid pipe? I need emissions every 2 years so I have to have the cats and I drive my car daily about 80 miles round trip to work everyday. What are the advantages of the X vs the H pipe?My car is a 96 GT 5 speed and all I have done to it is modified the air box, added the cat backs and a Tri-Ax shifter.

The H will give you a more deep muscle car sound, the X is more raspy sounding, like nasacar. With flowmasters, id go with the H pipe. The perfomace differnce between them is almost nothing.

RipTide7, you did just the PI intake or did you also do the heads? I was thinking about doing the intake but I haven't heard from anyone that has actually done just the intake. Did you notice a difference in power and/or fuel economy with just the intake and where did you get it for how much $$$

Just the intake. A few other guys did it here to. I noticed a good differece. it pulls better high in the rpm range for the price (approx.$350). Defintly a good mod. Make sure you either get adapter plates or do a good job sealing the coolant ports becasue i had a bad leakat first. But its a great mod, youll feel the difference.

Nice! I keep seeing the livermoore (i think) kit on here and wondering if I will need to chip it in order to do that. I am also contimplating a 99 or newer 4.6 2V long block out of a wrecked Mustang. I hear those are out there just a matter of finding the right one.

http://www.livernoismotorsports.com/product.phtml?p=457 Thats the kit. Its a little expensive though. An egine swap is also a possibility, but then you need to find an engine in good shape for a good proce, then the install. Quite pricey. If your engine is in good shape and dosent have an incredible amount of miles on it (way over 100k) then a swap probably isnt the best idea.

I do have 108K on my engine but the damn thing purrs like a kitten. I bought it from a lady that was the original owner and had every document since the car was new on oil changes and tune up's from Ford dealers only, not a single jiffy lube in it's life.
I have seen these 4.6's go 300K+ milesin the past so I am not worried about this engine going away anytime soon, I just want more power and be able to compete.
