Default I got a major problem

In the next few weeks, Im going to be buying a new car. Im either going with a 2001-2002 GT mustang or a 2000 Pontiac Trans Am. As you can see, I'm going for speed. I want to drive something that can whoop up on most other cars, and still look good. As these cars cost the same, everything points to getting the T/A since it comes with 305 HP stock and a 6 speed tranny. Come on guys, try and sway me to buying a mustang! I want to be able to beat the Trans Am if i go with the mustang, so what would need to be done? Thanks guys.

out of price range, but i did consider it. I cant spend anymore then 12000. Too bad.

heres the truth, the only way that GT is gonna be fast is with some type of FI, bolt ons and even motor work just dont cut it on the 2vs. now you buy a blower slap it on the GT and your golden. the T/A is gonna be easier to mod and responds so much better to bolt ons. either way you go is a good choice.

Im in the same dilema. I like Mustangs but cant afford a 03 04 cobra. I could if really tried to squeeze for a mach 1. How to they compare to the LS1s

Here is what you are missing going by the factory ratings of that LS1, they really make 300 RWHP. The mods you listed on a 2VGT will get you maybe 275-280 RWHP while the same mods on an LS1 will get you 330-340 RWHP. If speed and responding well to bolt ons is what you want then the chioce is simple. The Stang is a nice car but will need F/I to keep up.

They are pretty even, but the LS1 still responds to bolt ons a little better. It all has to do with how well the head flow on them. The 4V Mach motor is a huge step up from a 2V though.

here's the deal....
Ls1 are fast cars and they respond really well to bolt ons. I have a few friends with them and it doesn't take much to make them fly and their A4's are ruthless. If your heart is in a mustang get one, it will take more money (mod for mod) to outrun an LS1 with a 2v, but if you are alreadly thinking about an LS1 then your heart isn't with a stang, so just get one.

How come it says everywhere the Camaros and Trans Am's had 305 HP at the engine?
