Default Burnout on an automatic

Hey guys, on an 03 gt automatic, how long can you do a stand still burnout before something starts to break in the car like drivetrain, engine, or transmission wise? And also to do donuts, should the tranny be left in drive or should it be shifted into 1st or 2nd, and should the overdrive be on or off?

it doesnt matter if the car is in o/d or not...just make sur eu have trac off.....and i think you can do a burn out untill you can get sick of it....ive done long ones before no problems.

alright sounds easy, but is there any specific gear the tranny should be in, like 1st or 2nd, or in drive?

Be carefull on how long you hold the brake though because you'll f**k up the rear brakes.
As far as breaking something I think the first thing to go will be the tires. Ha Ha[8D][&:]

at least get a line locker if you're going to do a burnout. that way the rear brakes aren't engaged...will result in less drivetrain stress.

it's still a pretty bad thing to do for our drivetrain

Kit you can buy that locks the front brakes by button, to do burnouts without the back brakes engaged.
Drag racers use them alot.

Other than right at the start it acutally puts less stress on the drivetrain than launching hard, so I don't see what it could hurt.

Unless your being stupid that is and holding the car at/above redline.
