guys who swapped 4v in their 2v
i've done much research on the 2v/4v swap and now after reading all the book stuff i'm wondering in reality, how much of a trouble is this to do? i plan on building the motor from ground up. labor will be done in my home garage since i don't have the funds to have a shop do it. i also have an automatic transmission and am wondering how that will work since all cobra cranks are 8bolt vs my 6bolt for my auto? reason i'm asking this is soon i plan on buying a block and crank to start my build and need to know what i'm getting into with that.
thanks

i think you can get a 8 bolt flex plate (i think thats the part) so it will mate up with your tranny. I would think it would be a bitch but if you can do the labor and can afford the parts i think it would be cool to try. Sean hyland has cobra long blocks. Id figure out how much it is gonna cost you then determine how much more expensive it would be to get one new

yeah i'm going to have to do more research on all the little parts i'll need that will add up. reason being is i come from a family who knows what they are doing w/ 5.0's but have no clue how the 4.6 works and my father really thinks i should sell the car and just get a cobra, but they are much too expensive for what i want to do

silverstang i say go for it. in all reality its a good swap. think of it like this, to obtain a lot of power with a 2v it can be done but u will need money and a lot of boos to do it. with the 4v its just a great powerplant ot work wit he block itself u kno to be bullit proof, find some low compression forged pistons and rods, and but a kb on it and be done.

Not to jack your thread but Ive been looking everywhere for a parts list on everything involved to swap 4v heads in my gt, I to will be building from the ground up around the 03-04 cobra motor..
Anybody have the info or a parts list of every part needed to swap 4v in to a 2v car?????

Just what i can think of off the top of my head.
Shortblock (if you want forged), heads, cams, front cover, chains, guides, alternator, alternator braket, intake, wiring harness, computer (or yours retuned), flywheel (if going forged), instrument cluster, and Im sure there is alot more but I cant think of it right now.

Have you considered going with Stage 2 heads? They flow much better than stock and with the right cam can add some very good HP after tune. They also bolt right up to the stock block with no modifications.
Just a less expensive option.

A stage three 2v head will only flow 225 int/cfm 205 exh/ cfk, as where a fully ported set of 4v heads will flow 340 on the intake and 285 for the exh... Makes a big diffrence for all out power
