RE: which gears for 98?
i have 3.73 gears in my 98 gt manual. i've heard that with a supercharger 3.73's are as tall as you wanna go because any taller you'll be in boost cruising around town. at 70 mph my rpm's are around 2200 not 2400. if you have no technical knowledge on replacing gears i would not attempt it. just my .02

thats what i think too its just that i was commenting on something MD saidso should stock gears be cruising at 2k rpm's at 70 or are my big tires and rims affecting it?

I'm acctually learnin about this install in school right now and it does seem to be that hard, the only thing that I can imagine bieng a pain in the a$$ will be if you have the car on jack stands and having to work underneath it. If you use the paint method to check backlash you should be ok.

lol. Why would it be hard from jackstand???? It is nice to have a lift though. Its really not as hard as people make it out to me. I do install rear end gears all the time ( mostly because guy with trucks burn them out) But you DO need some special service tools. And yeah, backlash IS important. I wouldnt attempt is i were novice. Even with a manual. Cause i noticed the manuals that everyday people can get from Autozone, dont really help much. I would get a FORD manual from the dealership. They are very NICE.
