Default Accell COP's. . .

Ok so i bought those accell coils (COP's) for my car to put on when i finished building the engine and everyone was asking how they do. Well i went ahead and bought four for my girlfriend's 04 focus (2.3 DOHC I-4) and put them in along with NGK Iridiums and i didnt notice that spectacular of a difference. Everyone is saying oh yeah they're amazing. It wasnt that great. Pulls a little bit harder and smoother but nothing special. I'll let you know though how they work on a mustang application but that focus is basically a cobra motor cut in half and it uses the exact same DOHC COP style as our cars do.

Default RE: Accell COP's. . .

Unless there was something wrong with the OEM coils it won't make any difference--it takes "X" amount of voltage (around 30kV if all is well, up to 40kV when things wear out) to ionize the gap and create the spark--any more voltage is uneccesary, actually it won't even build once the plug fires, and is just markerting hype.It is true that as you raise compression and add boost more voltage is required to ionize the gap, however those extremes are far beyond any level encountered in most streetable engines.
