Default O/R midpipe and welding in cat. converters?

I'm looking to get a midpipe for my '99 GT 'vert. I have a Magnaflow catback with the stock H pipe on there at the moment and i'm yearning for a bit more HP and TQ. I'd like to get a new midpipe but I have to pass New York State inspection, which means I need catalytic converters. Problem for me is i'm cheap and I want to spend as little money as possible. Anyone ever get a good midpipe and weld in cats?

You might be able to find one used on the classifieds here or on www.corral.net

Get a modular X Pipe. They allow you to swap the cats in whenever you wanttoo. Bassani and SLP both make em. I have the bassani one, and only put the cats on for inspection, and take em off right after.

I live in Albany and have no problem getting my car inspected without cats! I have the MIL eliminators and my guy doesn't put the car up on the lift, just does a walk around!..lol But regardless as long as the inspector is "blind" that there ar no cats, you will pass the scan tool reader as long as you have MIL eliminators! Just make sure you put them in right away, because you'll have to reset the "clock" on your emissions inside the computer once the engine code is tripped! Good luck
