Ilike BF Goodrich255s in the rear and 215s in the front. they are about $200 per tire but are great tires for high performance, my dad likes them so much that he is going to put them on the that me and him are restoring which is a 1972 Gran Torino Sport. They are kind of pricy but they are well worth it.

Sounds like you're getting ripped off. I can get them in 265's for $140 a piece.

nittos are soft and sticky... 17x9 i would run 265/40/17 or 275/35/17 on all four corners.. that way you have killer grip on all four corners and with a nine inch rim you really can't go any thinner than like a 255

I have a 2002 GT with the following setup:
Ford Racing throttle body
C&L Mass air meeter
3:73 gears
Superchip
Bassani full exhaust w/x-pipe
Tri-Ax shifter
Let me tell you that at the track my car could not hookup at all! I spun through first gear and partially through second with the stock tires. I bought a set of 2003 Cobra rims and a set of Yokohama AVS ES100's and let me tell you..those tire really hook up! I went extreme and bought 275/40 17's but they fit just fine with not alterations. Try them I bet you'll like them.
