Default Tires????

Ok i posted a question about rims not to long ago and some one gave me some tire sizes that they are going to go with and said i should look in to them as well...which were 265/35/18 in the front and 315/30/18 in the rear...now my question is...why would the front be 35 and the rear be 30??? shouldnt it be the other way around??? or is there a reason that the 30's would go in the back??? the rim sizes are 18x9 in the front and 18x10 in the back......

Yes. For every three sizes up in width you must drop down a size in heighth! Those tires aren't the same size! A 265/35 is noticeable smaller in heighth than a 315/30, unless you want that kind of look? I would go with 275/35's. 285/35/18 are a match for 315's, but I'm gonna run with 275/35 and 315/30's. The 315's will be a little plusher than those 265's is all!

the 30 and the 35 is actually a % so the tire height in the front would be 35% of 265 and the rear would be 30% of 315.. the reason why you would want that setup is so that the tire wall matches up a bit

what targa said is right, you'd actually be looking at 40 series 265 tires for the front if you wanna match a 30 series 315 in the rear..

The 315x30's and 285x35's are not such a good match. There is over a 5" difference in track with those.
Now the 315x30's and 275x35's are a better match, the difference is only 1.75"

That's why Ford went with 245x45's on the GT's and 275x40"s on the Cobras. There is only a quarter inch difference in those 2 sizes.
