Gears should be locked into place. I have no play when the shifter is in gear. I completely removed the two shift stops as recommended per George at MGW.

Did you put the plastic piece on the bottom part of the shifter on the little ball?

Stayed put? You gotta put that black cup on the bottom of your MGW shifter. It will come off the stock shifter if you carefully pry if off with a flathead screwdriver.

No you got it right, mine is totally locked up in gear...

Did you order the right shifter for your tranny year? It's the 3650 right?

Try installing the old shifter on again, and just snug everything down, and check if you still have movement. If you don't call up MGW and ask them what you should do.

GOD NO he didnt.. dude listen to me carefully.. take the MGW out, GET THE BALL OUT OF THERE!!!! Put it on the end of the MGW - then reinstall, and it'll work fine... you can actually damage your tranny like that... seriously. Per George @ MGW.
