Manual over an auto any day. There is nothing to it after you get use to it.

For those of us that bought a Mustang as a fun cruiser, a quick reliable daily driver, or even just to make fast and enjoy the hell out of whever we are driving, there really is no explanation for buying an auto, unless:

1. you share it with someone who cant drive manual
2. city = stop and go all the time
3. big hills = burnt clutch all the time.. lol..
4. you just really did not want a manual.

You guys who bring up the racing idea, or the built auto being more precise at a track or when racing.

HOW OFTEN DO YOU GUYS RACE?

Even if having a manual gave up a tenth or two in the quarter mile further down the road for me, I would not trade the daily experiance, the feeling of control, that a manual transmission gives you over an auto.

I for one am not saying that autos are not fun, but it's truely just not the same driving experiance.

Driving is something you actively do. Not just passively driving your car letting it shift for you. No, you go at it and enjoy it all the time.

sticks are fun. You know the ad in the 5.0 magazine that says "beat 'em with a stick"? Also no food goes in the stang in the first place. Ive never been tempted to fall asleep and when you do roll races you can downshift whenever you want too.

If you want to have fun when you drive get a stick. If you are lazy or just don't want to learn how to drive a stick, get an automatic. Both have their advantages and disadvantages.

i love all you guys saying autos are for pussies...i can gaurentee that my auto will stomp 90% of the 99-04 GT's on this forum[8D].....bench racing aside, I got my auto because i do a lot of bracket racing and my car is not a DD....plus i was in an auto accident a few years back and its just easier for me than having to shift all the time

Well you're a moron if you thought that I like stick shift for racing. I never said I raced at all. I like stick shift just because its a lot more fun...and heck...its a sports car, you should be driving a stick. I could care less about how bad you could beat me.

With a 5 speed, you're driving. In an auto, you're just riding....

My 96 GT was an auto, and my current 03 GT is a manual. I couldn't be happier. With the auto I always wished I had a manual, after owning the manual I will never go back to an auto. I hardly ever go to the track, and driving in traffic isn't that bad. I live in Miami, FL and the traffic sucks 9 out of 10 days. Just kick it into neutral and coast. It is a lot more fun to drive, and you don't have to worry about letting too many people want to drive your car (amazing how many people can't drive a standard).
