Default 4.6 intake manifold

Has annyone put a PI intake manifold on stock 1998 heads?
I understand that the PI intake has to go on 1999 and up Heads.

Any Canadians on the forum who have a stock 1998 updated intake( Aluminum water jacket) Manifold for sale I am interested.

I have, and a few other have around here, if your not going the full pi swap this is the next best thing, along with cams, in the future at least.

Here is a link to the throttle body. The one I have is the third one down and it is supposed to fit the 1996-2003 so it should fit his no problem. I ordered it directly from Steeda. Like I said if you get both I will do 250 and I pay for shipping (as long as it is not over $50). Just the intake $100 you pay for shipping.

I put the Livernois kit on my 96, it comes with billet adapter plates to fit the PI manifold to our non PI cylinder heads. I put the intake manifold on myself and it was pretty simple. I have also read about people on these forums who have put the PI manifold on their non PI motors without any adapter plates, they just used a bit of silicone by the water crossover, and they say they have no problems. The latter is cheaper too.

I put the intake ( $125 ) and new set of PI Cams ($100) on my 98. Cams aren't bad to do once the intake is already off, just take valve covers off is all. Use the PI gaskets and get a 99+ valley pipe as well. Why pay $5000 more for a 99+ GT??

Could this be a do it yourself kinda deal?? In the drive way with a toolset? Do you see any major gains by just doing the cams and the intake??.... One more question... A full PI swap involves cams, intake and heads right? BTW I like your car

It wasnt bad at all. I spent most of my time bending my valley pipe to make it work, and tapping our 2nd water sensor is kinda a bitch to keep from leaking. I donno if it's the best way, but we just removed the cam gears, swapped cams and right back together. WE had to file the front cover just a touch to get the drivers side cam gear back on but it wasnt bad. Car feels very different...to give you an idea i did 0-60 blasts on my gtech prior to these mods. Car would hook up with a 1000k rpm launch with no spin and net a consistant 7.5 seconds every time. Now I cant hook up at all. But even while breaking lose like crazy all the way through 1st I got a 7.3 !! I'm hoping a new set 275/40/17 tires will get me a 6.9. I've seen dynos of stock cars with just cams and intake at 235rwp which is at par with a PI. It did take me both Saturday and sunday to complete, and I shouldve changed the fuel filter as well because the airflow made me ping until the filter was changed.

Where did you purchase the cams and intake?? The livernoise or w/e its callled looks like it would be easy.. but I think that is to much...

Used the parts for sale/parts wanted forums on here. Those kits are expensive but I bet they work good and give you more peace of mind. I am pretty poor so I try to do as much as i can for as little as possible. Got frpp 4.10's on ebay for $100 and am going to give that install a try as well ( w/ my dad who has quite a bit of racing / mechanical experience ). I'm hoping to get in the 8's in the 1/8th mile for $500 on a NPI auto/vert. No one seems to think I can...we'll see!
