Don't know man, I raced an '01 Cobra 'vert a month ago(late nite street race) and I quickly put 2-3 cars lengths from a dig, we repeated this from three consecutive stop lights, same result. Not knocking the '99/'01 Cobra, but just too ugly for me, I know it has a lot of tacked on goodies(an IRS that's just a band-aid of added sophistication) and has the SVT cache, but the '79-'04 'Stangs are still '78 Fairmonts IMO.......... cobra hands down.
takes slightly better to mods in most cases, not a boxy boat anchor, worth more, cheaper, cooler. IMO of course.
