Supercharger+Gears???

RE: Supercharger+Gears???
3:73s are just too high, youll need more of a lower gear. i thought a 3:90 was a good medium[8D]

I base everything off of track performance. For a non-track car a 3.73 would be a good compromise. Sorry if I seemed rude......I'm a bit hard core and my coffee hasn't kicked in yet[8D][8D]

Well I was mis informed for sure, lol My bad. I do still lik my 3.73's though. I guess since it's not a major hard core track car, it's good enough for me.

Here, use this: http://www.tchracing.com/tech/gearca...selectedgear=5
Just plug in the info, including your projected trap speed (120ish, maybe?) and all your other stuff and that should give you a good idea.

RE: Supercharger+Gears???
Well, I haven't bought the gears yet, so I am not sure what to do so I won't do anything yet. I still drive it to work everyday, eventhough it is only a five mile drive to the base. I am mainly trying to build this car to be as bad as it can be in the 1/4 but still be able to be a daily driver. I bought the mac lont tubes and mac o/r h-pipe last night and they should be here in like three days. Once I put the s/c on I will run at the track for a while befor I decide on the gears. I love the advice you all are giving me. So I gues I am looking between; 3.73, 3.90, and 4.10s.

RE: Supercharger+Gears???
let me put it to ya this way, i drive my car 45 miles everyday, with 3:90s and the blower i still get great gas mileage as long as i stay out of boost. now with you driving the car everyday id choose between the 4:10 or 3:90, just because it really wont make that much impact on your gas mileage but it will make a huge impact at the track. the 3:90s are perfect for me, but thats just me

RE: Supercharger+Gears???
I have a friend with a Prochager on his 5 speed '95 GT with 4.10s. He told me if I ever go FI not to get 4.10s. He said it sucks running out of gear at the track but on the street he loves it. He still gets beat by bolt on new edges at high end though. Weird huh.

As the WHP numbers increase, the need for gear decreases. A 4.10 in my car would just be too short in 1st/2nd. Until the suspension work it would simply fry the tires in 1st and usually in 2nd.
Hell, I was perfectly happy with my 3.73s with only 280 WHP though.. I never felt the need for a shorter gear.
