I would have to say that mod for mod I have seen some REALLY impressive times out of bolton only 3v cars.
If the money isn't an option (IMO its much better deal on the mach compared to a brand new GT.. gonna take a 3-5K hit right as you roll out of the lot) then go with the one you think looks/sounds/feels better. Other than that, it should pretty much be a drivers race stock for stock, both respond well to boltons, and both are about as reilable etc.
If it was me... mach 1 all the way. I fell in love the first time I sat in one, the seats are sex.

High Compression motors with excellent flowing heads means it really likes the spray (see LSx motors).
Machs are considerably more rare and will be worth more in the future. The shaker scoop, although barely functional as a ram air scoop, does add superior looks. My choice I take the Mach do minor bolt ons and some giggle gas and call it a day.

I did forget about the compression. I would assume though that even if he went with a supercharger down the road its still ok? In other words, you can't make over about 450 WHP anyway, so you could get away with the higher compression and boost with pump gas?

To the OP, I love my Mach, I have seen a few new GT's that I was tempted to trade the Mach in for, but thats all I was.... Tempted

all im gona say is if your willing to pay 27-30 for a new gt get a machone but if your gona waste 30 gz on the gt anyways just get a 03 cobra and call it a day and dont have to worry about internals,the block,the tranny and it comes with boost..best choice imo

ok mod for mod, they are very very close....the new 3vs have a nice power curve...i hate the way they look, but with a decent body kit theycan befairly acceptable. the mach is very hot car....it turns heads stock...not to mention your comparing a MACH 1 to a GT...in five years its still a GT. Now onto the Mach, the only downside toitis if you wanted to do an aftermarket cam, its gonna cost a lot more than a 3v seeing as how the 3vs only have one cam per head but the 4vs have two. thats the only downside i can think of to the mach. they both sound good, and are both fast.....but if it were my money, i would go with a MACH 1....

Although i'm biased i say go with a 05 + GT. Performance wise they are basically identical althought the 4v's like to scream a lil more up top than the S197. But take a look at both models which ever one looks better to you should be your deciding factor. Although a plus of buying a new car is that you dont have to worry about it being beat on by the previous owner.
