Default eBAy CAI...good buy or not??

Guys, what do you all think of the CAI kits on eBay? They all basically do the same thing whether they're $35 or $200...right? Below is a link.

I guess for the $35, you really can't go wrong. I mean, a lot of the more expensive CAI's are dyno tuned, and really engineered a lot nicer, but yea you could spend a couple hundred bucks on some like that. The ebay setup will defnitely get you into that colder fenderwell air, though a lot of people would suggest getting a plastic CAI vs. the metal like those, because the metal absorbs heat and heats the incoming air a little more than a plastic one would. But yea, those ebay CAI's are cheap enough, and ad some flash under the hood which is always a plus. I'd suggest getting a nicer filter though, like a K&N, because a quality filter will give you more performance, but more importantly, safety for your engine. I'd never put a cheap filter on a car, not worth ruining you engine over.

Here is as pic of a 98 with a cold air kit. I don't see how the Ebay kit would give you this, but I've been wrong all day, so nothing new.

I bought my CAI from eBay and I think it works okay, i just never dynoed my car yet to see. Make sure you buy a new cone filter such as K&N cuz the 1 they give u is cr#p [:'(]. To my knowlege all CAI's are for the most part the same as long as they go to the fender well which the air is cooler than the stock airbox near the engine.

Yeah, I figured I'd dump the filter that came with it and get a K&N or an equivalent.

Thanks! Everyone's opinions and knowledge is always appreciated! Man where would I be if it weren't for the auto forums on the Net??? I frequent the Toyota Tundra forums from time to time too, and have found it to be very helpful also.

$60 for the e-bay CAI + $40 for new K&N filter vs. $160 for a densecharger w/a perf. filter, that's plastic, that performs better. No one listens to me.. I had the e-bay one, now I have the densecharger.. LEARN FROM ME.

I went with the Densecharger too, but I was a cheap *** and only got the meter forward without the MAF. Still, I'm going with Acer on this one. The Ebay thing would be fine if you were just gonna use it like it is and not replace the filter. But you already said you were gonna replace it, so I would put my money on the Densecharger.
