Sounds good... But as far as quick mods:
*$100 for gears plus install
*$100 for PI intake manifold plus install
*$150 for O/R h-pipe

That's what I would do. Those are all cheap (especially if you do the work yourself). After that, do some suspension, PI swap, and get a tune.

Well, you picked the worst platform to start on. First its a 96 which was the **** year for modulars as it was the first one in a stang. Secondly, its an auto. Third, its a vert. Lol youve got a lot of work and money ahead of you. But theres a brightside. You will never run out of mods that you can buy for it!

My vote goes to supercharger from the very start. You have no other options that will gain as much power for a relatively low cost(aside from nitrous).

'96 and '97 are basically identical. The radiator is different, the 17" optional wheels were glossed, and different color options. The cars are the same.

Ok, PI and gears seem to be the common answer.

However the tuner question is still there? Is it worth it now to get it and change the tunes as I go (mods), or just wait til mods are done? have already noticed that my speedo is off 4mph at 70.

the car flat out smokes my 96 v6 with divorced duals!

You will probably want to get the tuner at the same time you get the gears. I am personally waiting until I finish my exhaust mods before I mess with anything else, howeverif my speedo was off I would probably go ahead and do the gears/tuner and PI swap first. Just keep in mind that you have way too many cats on that car from the factory to breathe efficiently.

If you're running bolt ons and a PI swap, you don't need a tune. If you got some gears and cams, then get a tune.
