When I first start up the car after it has sat over night or for any long period of time it sounds & runs like its been cammed. After a couple of min. it will idle normal. The rpm gage doesn't move just a very lumpy idle.
I did add10-40 weight RP oil (about 1/4)to the 5-20 of RP that was already in there due to the fact that its stillconsuming oil and was the only oil I had left in the house.
Will adding a heavier weight oil make it idle like that until the oil warms up and thins out? Also if I undo this one particular vacuum line the car will instantly idle normal. I don't have pic's but its connected to ablk round piece that sits flat this piece hasthe following #'s on it: Ford xl3e-9d475-d2a

Thicker oil takes longer to get to the top of the engine which would give you that sound. I'd fix that oil consumption problem instead of just using thicker oil.

if u want the cammed sound, just get some stage 1 cams... they arent terribly hard to install, vt runs 500-600 bucks for the pair and you will gain 10-20 hp with a tune. alot better than spending money on gears or lt's if you want that sound

My car does that. For me, its from an aggressive tune with alot of timing. Is your car tuned? If so, maybe you have alot of advanced timing. If not, maybe you need a tune.

I wasn't doing it to change the sound.The car has a canned tune (Hyper Tech) andhas been running fine until right afterthe heavier oil was added
And from what I'm told burning a quart of oil between oil changes is normal for these eng. Normally I keep a xtra bottle of RP 5-20 in house but didn't this time so I used the heavier 10-40[&:]
