Default 17"s vs 18"s Is it worth it ?

I'm thinking of either getting 17x9and 17x10.5 black bullits, or 18x9 and 18x10. My question is, is there any real differenne in the look of the 18s versus the 17s? And if so, is it enough to warrant spending much more money down the line for 18" tires? And by getting the 18s I'd only be getting 285s on the back compared to 315s. Right now I'm running 245s and 275s (bought it that way), and I like the fat tire look. Basically, should I go with the 17s or the 18s, considering looks, future costs, performance/weight ?

I was gonna go 18s without a doubt, just cuz I always thought the bigger the better but I'm starting to change my mind. For one thing, like you said, you can run 315s in the rear with the 17x10.5 which just look amazing imo. That and everything is cheaper than 18s. I think as long as you get a nice drop to go with them, 17s look great. I'm going with H&R super sports and 17x10.5 fr500s sometime this summer. I really love the look of 315s so that's what I've decided. Hope this helps.

I'm on the same boat as you. I ordered 17x10.5 bullets today and 315/35/17 tires. I'd rather have the wider tires then an inch bigger wheel. Those 315's look sick on the back of a stang.

My vote is 17's and the 315's.

Well.. The 18s look amazing... And perfectly fit 295s which enless you have someone with a trained eye looking at them they look just as wide as the 315s.

BUUT... I wish i would have gone with 17s and a lower drop.... Lets put it this way... I just have 2 little mods so i am basically stock... Well with stock rims and SHI*Y tires i ran consistent 14.2s.... And now with my 18s and amazing tires i cannot get past 14.6!

If you're priority is looks, then it's 18" for sure. They look more aggressive and to me, just seem to be the perfect size to complement the profile of the car, 17" can seem a little too small.

i think the 18s are worth it. they look incredible. and on an 18 x 10" wheel you can still run 295s, 305s if you wanna push it. i really dont think the 18s are a big enough difference that would cause a 0.4 second increase in ET in the 1/4. i would attribute it to something else in addition too probably.

heres the 17s vs 18s, and a shot from the back with 295s (they still look very decently wide IMO)

I like my 17's. i would hate to have 18's where i live and mash them up on pot hole. I am surpised sometimes that the 17's aren't all mashed up. But i would get 18 if i lived somewhere else.
