I'm doing it for 3 reasons. First I'm looking for a fatter torque band. Second I was looking for something that was a little of the beating path. Lastly I found a 5.4 with 12,000 miles on it for dirt cheap so it all seemed to make sense. The swap really isn't that bad. There are some headaches like extending the fuel lines and whether the K-memeber is a must or not it should be done anyways. It has made my life so much easier.

With the longer stroke in the 5.4, doesn't that limit how high you can rev the motor?

I looked into doing a 5.4 swap before I had my engine built. I determined it wasn't worth it in SOHC form. The only way to make serious power is to have a 5.4 with Navigator heads. Maybe one of these days.

ive always wondered what a 5.4 with a 3.750 stroker and some P/P heads + Stage II cams would put out [sm=badbadbad.gif]

besides no traction
lol. NOTHING. De-stroking an engine has to be the worst idea EVAR!!!!!!!!!

stock bore and stroke on a 5.4 is

3.55 X 4.16

But in stock form (in the F-series) even way back in the early modular days(~1997) the 5.4L 2v has throwing out 350ft-lbs. So, there is a torque gain to be had.

It's not worth it in 2v form unless your engine dies and you can't afford to build a 4.6, and you find a longblock = or less than a stock replacement. A mechanic at MPH told me that it would drop right in and use all stock wiring. It would just need a tune.
