Clutch giving out? How can I tell?

Clutch giving out? How can I tell?
Lately, my clutch has really been acting up. I've been getting that "oh-so-famous earthquake" feeling at take off. You know, like when you don't give it enough gas and you let out too quickly. It's been happening ever since I did a mini burnout in the rain the other day, but I doubt thats why. It might have made it worse, but it really didn't take much to get them tires spinnin
So I want to know if there is a test I can run to check the condition of my clutch plate, without getting under the car? I heard something like, put the car in 5th and let the clutch out slowly while stopped, and if you stall, your clutch is OK? I have no idea how that works as a test, but my car did stall, so am I OK?
Also, has anybody changed their own clutch? Is it too difficult? I'm somewhat experienced with auto work (I built a car with my dad), but I've never tackled a clutch. I wouldn't mind a King Cobra sometime in the future, or maybea SPEC.

Test 1: When not moving, put the car in 5th gear, and pop the clutch. If it stalls right away its fine. If its hesitates to stall, id start to looking into a new one.
Test 2: Get up to about 45-50 mph and put it in 5th. Then floor it and if the rpms jump but the car doesnt accelerate, look into a new clutch, as the old one is starting to slip. If the rpms dont jump and the car accelerates its fine.

I get the "earthquake" deal sometime when my clutch gets hot. But mine is definately slipping. Heres how I could tell.
1/8 mile trap on a 100 shot----------93.8mph
1/8 mile trap on a 150 shot----------92.1mph
lol

Like already said.. just try to see if its slipping. Thats the best way to tell... When my stocker went out on this car it was bad... 1-2 and 2-3 shifts were hit or miss on if the clutch was going to grab or if the car was going to redline.. lol.

Ohh and as for the install, a clutch really isnt that difficult to do. If you dont have long tubes, then all you have to pull is your mid pipe, drive shaft, transmission, clutch, and flywheel. Honestly the hardest part about a clutch install is stabbing the transmission back into place afterwards. That can be a major pain in the *** if you have only dont it a time or two before.
