Default bad ground = blown motor?

I had a battery installed in my trunk and it wasn't done right the ground was mounted to the trunk latch . So when I got it up to 4,000 rpm the voltage would drop from 14 or so to 11 therefore I would lose fuel pressure causing it to run lean and detonate . I cracked two pistons and needed a motor . I never thought that something that simple would cause a major problem like that but now I know and just wanted to help my fellow mustang owners from having to be away from their babies like I did I'm glad I found the problem before it happened again .

Damn dude that sucks. Well I guess I'm not trying the battery in the trunk mod. Are you going with forged internals now?

yup I got a street fighter stroker from chp and it's installed . It's being tuned at Murrillo motorsports in San Antonio . Murillo is the shiznit and The Hot Rod Store of Texas are the ones who charged me over a grand to install the batt , build the 310 lph fuel pump , and dyno tune .But they(the hot rod store )messed it all up and when I took it back to be corrected they let it sit for two weeks and did not touch it . Then I took it to Murillo's and I was on the road that very day .

Anything that causes a fuel pressure drop can/will destroy the motor. I had an alternator short out and lukily i just wasn't getting on it when it went out all the way.

If your batery was dropping from 14 to 11 your battery light would have come on! Also your battery won't just drop from 14 to 11 with a snap of the fingers it will take a minute or so, something you should have noticed! I always glance down at the guages every so often, maybe I'm just used to it becuase I drive Big Rigs???

No I'm a hardcore gauge watcher too. It's always a good idea to keep your eye on things.

Hmmmmmmm. obviously the light did not come on . And it will drop with the snap of a finger because it was on the dyno when it did this and I saw right when I hit 4,000 rpms the fuel pressure and voltage dropped just like that snap!

It's a place called The Hot Rod Store of Texas maybe they tried to steal part of a good name or something . Texas hot rods is a reputable place as far as I know .
