Default WINDOW TINT!

im goin to get my windows tinted very soon and was wondering what % i should go with. I live in illinois and im not supposed to have anything on the two side windows but i will anyway. Im mainly gettin them tinted to protect my interior from the scorching sun this summer, but i also dont want people to be able to "make out" who iam in my car. what is a good percentage to go all around with? should i go darker in rear and lighter up front?

20% is a pretty reasonable compromise between way too dark at night and too light during the day. I've got it all the way around.

I did 20% all around and was dissapointed i didn't go with darker.

Me and some friends are putting 2.5% on my side windows todays, but i'm leaving the back at 20%.

20% looks really dark at night or in the shade though, so if you're concerned about police,20% would be a nice choice.

I have 18% all around it looks awesome not to dark where its hard to see outside at night, or so dark that it gets the cops attention. Wow you are not allowed anything on the side in Illinois? In wonderful Texas you can 35 on the sides and anything you want on the back.

5% all around, baby!

It's starting to peel big time up in the back where it comes in contact with the "dot matrix"....Have the tint shop put a vinyl strip over it before applying the tint, or dissolve/scrape it off.

Yea the 20% isn't all that dark. The 20 made it look like some stock tint to me. You can see right through during the day pretty much.[:@]

i see you are from Illinois, you ever had any trouble with the 5%? i only drive the stang on nice days in the summer and store it during the winterso id be liable to get caught up in the summer, but even then id have the windows down anyway. i think im goin to do 5%....

the shop im takin it to has a lifetime warranty against anything on tint, so thats good for me. $180 for it all.

mustang430...I haven't had much trouble yet, but I'm sure that if I rolled by slow enough with my windows up, they'd pull me over ina heartbeat. I can actually drive next to somebody with my middle finger up and have them look right at me without seeing it (highly not reccomended)...

Just keep your windows down. It looks super, super slick with the windows up, though. I get tons of looks and compliments on it, although it can be a bitch seeing out at night.
