Dyno on stock car?
I was told by a buddy that runs the dyno at a shop that you can dyno your car even if it is stock to help it out a bit. He said especially changing the shift points on an automatic. Anyone done this?

It sounds like hes talking about a dyno tune. Basically they tune your car while on the dyno so they can monitor how the changes in tune effect your car. If hes just talking about a dyno run, that will only tell how much power you are pushing to the wheels.
A dyno tune isthe best and safest way to tune a car.

My tuner changed my shift point to 6400 rpm in wot on my sct. You will need a tuner for the person doing the air /fuel tune on the dyno. Cost about $120 a hour(at least at where IM at). He also changed my part throttle shift points which where a must for me, as well as the line pressures(shifts very hard). He lock my converter which has made my car quicker between shifts. You can do allot of these things with just a hand held tuner yourself. If you get a predator, let me know and ill let you know what i did. I have a sct now and my tuner has done everything via the computer, so I have done zero adjustments myself.

yeah, my buddy said he will hook it up on the dyno for free. I have a 100% stock 96 gt. Anything I should have him do? I told him i was interested in the shift points cause mine shifts hard and he said it can be fixed.

the main benefit of a tune is running 93 octane and bumping up the timing to allow for more hp. Playing with the shift points makes for smoother/faster shifts in an auto which is always a good thing.
