Default Is a speed-cal needed for a 98GT?

I'm going to be putting 3.73 Ford Racing gears in my 98 and I'm just wondering if an electronic speed cal is needed for a Manual or if you can just put in the speedometer gear for that? Thanks guys

The speedo gear isn`t accurate. Get the speedcal.

You can also get a tuner to adjust for the gears.

What would be the best way to go to adjust it speed cal or tuner? I'm also installing a pi manifold, lt headers, o/r midpipe, and cams

If you are also installing those mods, I would go ahead and get the tuner, because after the PI swap, you are going to need to get it tuned anyway.

You would be better off with a tuner if you plan on doing more mods. Your gonna need a tune after you get the cams in.

Will the tuner adjust everything in the way that I'll need it or will I need to take it to a dyno? If a dyno is needed does anyone know what kind of price I'd be looking at in Indiana? And if a handheld will do it what is the brand to go with?

For the gears, you won't need a dyno tune. After the cams and everything, I would be safe and take it to the dyno. Prices vary with each shop...you just need to call a bunch of them.

So if I dyno do I still need a tuner? And I have a buddy that has a handheld for his 05...would that work with mine at all?
