Default New heads vs stock CNC Port and polish question

Hi

What would be the difference between sending my heads out to get cnc ported and polished to a stage 2 head or going out and getting some new ones? I know sending them out would be cheaper then buying new ones but what is the difference performance wise?

It would be the same as long as they did the 3 way or 5 way valve job. There is no aftermarket head for our cars, the Patriots and others just get stockers in which they port and polish and do a valve job on.

Thanks

On this site there showing 800 for a port and polish on heads so im going to give them a call and see what the price will be. Iff it is too much I guess I would be better off just buying new ones though.

Idunno what the best advice would be, yes vt or livernois is absolutely the best but your looking at $1700-2000 with sending in a core so basically for labor alone. Then patriots offer the same exact performance/ flow numbers actually patriots flow numbers are higher, but i have never once read a horror story about anyone's heads except patriot.I have no personal experience with them on the 4.6's only what you read but i have personally seen what a set of failed heads can do to an engine, so therefor i did not purchase a set of them. I just got a set ported with a manley head package larger intake and exhaust valves and manley valve springs and highly doubt ill have a problem with them , if im not mistaken the weak link on the patriots is in the way they machine the valve guides and their valve springs the springs cannot handle the advertised lift. Im sure the patriot will be fine noone ever post success storys only horror story's, but i tell you i thought it would be cheaper to have my heads done the way i did but itsnot.Im sure that price of 800 was machining only and not larger valves or better springs then your looking at another 400-500 for that junk plus shipping .

He must have deep enough pockets if he is gonna do headwork.

IMO there is alot more you could do to the car atm before heads to pickup gains though. LTs, midpipe, gears, cams, etc etc etc.
