127,000 miles. what should i do

RE: 127,000 miles. what should i do
I just turned over 105,000 this week. Only have to drive it daily 2 more years then a 5.0 goes in it! Honestly, I would do what everyone else suggested, give it a good tuneup and keep driving it. The 4.6 is really quite a reliable motor and will go a long ways if you continue to take care of it.

I feel you man, I just hit 110,000 on my car the other day. But just like everyone says, keep up the maintenence and she'll steal your heart.
Where would be a good place to look for a nicely used PI engine? Any junkyard, or do you have preferred sites?
Thanks

Ok guysI bought the car a year ago with 103,000 miles, and nowshe has 127,000 miles. Besides knowing that it was taken to the dealer for service by the previousownerI have no clue what type ofmaitnance has been done to the car. So what shallI do at 127,000.

Pray?
Buy a tow rope?
A membership to AAA?
I'm only kidding!!
I run my cars forever and currently have a 92 Caprice approaching 500,000 miles on the original engine and tranny.
She runs great!
The 4.6L is a very reliable motor which is one reason it is used in taxis and police cars.
Take care of her and she will run a good long time.
Weakest point is the plastic intake manifold crossover pipe which is a design flaw and easily fixed if yours hasn't been fixed already.
As for what you should do, the others have offered excellent advice.
Fluids etc.
After you tune her up, keep an eye on oil consumption.
You can do the compression check when you replace the plugs.
I think you might be able to loan a compression tester from Autozone.
It's easy to do.
Good luck with your new ride.

I'd supercharge it. Thats about how many miles mine had when she got blown[8D]
Honestly, a full tune up. all fluids (including diff), plugs, new belt.. and taking it into a shop to do a compression check would be a good idea as well. If compression is holding up, your clutch isnt slipping, and your transmission isnt doing anything funky on you, it should be good for another 100k if you keep up with maintaning it.

The 4.6 is a very well built motor that will last a long time if cared for properly. We have patrol cars in out dept (and we all know how cops drive those ) with well over 200k original motor and trans that are running great. Just keep up with the oil/fluid changes, dont run it too hard while its cold, etc. and it will last a long time

If the car is treating you good i wouldn't worry about it. Mustangs are pretty reliable. I have a 95 mustang 3.8 and a 03 Mustang GT. My 95 is my first car i ever bought so it has a special place in my heart, but it has 160,000 miles on it and it still runs amazing ive had it for 3 years and it hasn't been in for repair once. I just make sure i change the oil and **** on time
