If I added a water/methanol kit on my car. Would I have to re-tune it ?Is it worth it to add one ? I have no idea how they work...

its a chemical intercooler. i would advise a new dyno tune. is your nitrous hooked up yellow? if so, how big of a jet? if you have 300 rwhp with the Series IV, a 100 shot of nitrous, and get a meth cooler, you could very well be pressing your luck.

and i dont even want to imagine what my face would look like if i threw a rod on a dyno. now that would be a kodak moment []

yeah you'll have to retune it. you'll have to make sure your tuner knows how to tune them as well or you can get no power at all. friend of mine with a 96 vortech'd cobra added one and his tuner didn't get squat for peak HP. the HP came on faster in the power band, but that's about it.

best price new for everything you need is probably through the website i already gave you. about $3800 and it comes with a tune from one of the best, if not the best, 2V tuners in the country.

or you can do what i (and i think nanaki) did and keep your eyes peeled for used ones popping up in the classifieds. i found mine on another forums for sale section. 1900 and i picked it up since it was pretty local. stray parts totalled about 300 or 400. so still less than 2300 for the complete kit.

im running the intercooled 2.1 at 10psi the numbers below are attributed to 12 psi, an intercooler and all my head and cam work. the kb doesnt whine too bad, but if i pulled up next to you and you knew cars, youd know id have some type of F/I under the hood by the sound, but the sound doesnt bother me, in fact it makes my foot heavier. i can eat lt1, ls1, ls6's alllll day couple vettes here and there, and all sti and evos are dinner

Hey Car_ Ramrod. My nitrous is hooked up. But has never been used. As my tuner told me that even on a 50 shot,my engine would explode. So it's just there for show. I think I'll take my car to a different tuner next time. I may buy that methanol injection though.I might as well.I've wasted so much money now.A few hundred more won't hurt.

on an already blown car, that 50 shot is gonna be like a 90 shot. nitrous cools the intake charge by quite a bit

Who hasthebest price?
Vortech parts are super easy to find and cheap. I found the s-trim head unit on ebay for $600 and ordered all the rest of the parts new from superchargersonline.com . The entire kit with injectors and MAF ended up costing about $1600. Tune cost about $600 so everything installed and tuned was about $2200. Worth every penny! If you need more info on building your own I can help. DIY intercooler costs about $300 at most.

Oh yea and the reason prochargers come with an intercooler and vortechs dont is because the procharger head units are self contained and get very hot. This heatsthe charge of air andthats why they leak oil also. A vortech with custom DIY intercooler seems to be the most reliable and efficient setup IMO.
