So my brother's getting another LS1...it's a 98 w/a lot of susp. work, 6 speed, a SLPlid, a granatelli mass air sensor, and that's pretty much it from what he knows...how bad is he going to beat me when we race? I know I'll probably need nitrous...will a 75 shot be enough for me to take his *** out, lol. Thanks for any advice. He's also a good driver.

I will sometime soon but as ofnow I don't have that kind of money and he's getting the car pretty soon...he is on the west coast and I'm on the east but it's only a matter a time before we both hit the track and I have to beat him w/my track time for now until we meet on the road

I think if you get a good launch or go from a roll it won't be that bad of a race. Just my .02. Just because it's an LS1 doesn't make it magically the winner. Some have 305, some have 350, not sure what a 98 has... Also make sure to use most of your fuel (down to 1/4 or and eight) for some weight savings.

You can do up to a 100 shot on a stock engine. But even with a 75 shot you should beat him.

Assuming its still the stock intake then he has the ls1 intake which robs some power from him. I think it will be closer than you think.

If the ls1 does not have a gear, then with the mods you have, you should be able to beat him in the 1/8, before I raced him in the 1/4 I would add some spray. I'd sayget a 50 shot then I bet you would beat him and not beaton your engine. You might not even need nitrous for the 1/4, it will be closer than you think.

Just pull one of his spark plug wires, hopefully that should make up for the displacement advantage...but on a serious note, I don't see why you couldn't take him with a 100 shot if you are a competant driver.....
