engined missing idle to mid range
Fellow GT mustangSOHC fans, I am looking to resolve an engine miss issue. My 02 GT mustang has developed a mild miss that is apparent up to about 3000 RPM's. It is most noticedat 2000 RPM. It sounds like it goes away at about 3000 RPM. I know drive at all times above 3000 RPM and I have no problem. Incorrect thought but thanks for playing.
60000 miles on the engine. Replaced plugs, fuel filter, and ran a couple bottles of fuel injector cleaner through the car. Checked resistance fo all fuel injectors which ohmed out between 15.2 and 15.5 ohms. TPS sensor checks IAW the tech manual. All related issues on the site here pointed to either intake manifold vacuum leak or bad COP module or boot. Inspected for leaks around the manifold and could find no evidence. No coolant in spark plug holes or evidence of leaks around the front of the intake near the alternator. Replaced all of the COP's with MSD Ford Blaster COP's. Same problem. Reloaded the OEM tune and drove for about60 miles and still had the same problem. A local connected a hand held ford code diagnostics scanner up andno CEL codes were listed. There has been no CEL light on the car at all. Unless there is a vacuum leak I am unable to locate without the help of a pro, the only other thing I can think of is a possible weak O2 sensor or an EGR valve related issue. Any assistance at all would be greatly appreciated.
Final note: I finally got up the nerve to go toa local strip and run the car. Talk about fun, I should have started doing this 20 years ago.
