Who the hell told you that? That's 100% wrong. You always need to have your flywheel resurfaced when you put a clutch in. That's your problem most likely. Chatter from an uneven flywheel.

How much is it to have your flywheel resurfaced?

Who told you not to resurface your flywheel? I wanna go smack them in the face for such a stupid statement. But thats your problem, and I suggest you go have it resurfaced. As for your question on what chatter is: its when the clutch disc is vibrating (chattering) against your flywheel. In your case its caused by the flywheel being uneven from wear due to the previous clutch. A resurface will make it all smooth and even again.
