Non Pi heads...worth the problem?

Non Pi heads...worth the problem?
I am looking to start building another motor from the ground up, but I would like to know: Is there any way to make the non pi heads flow anywhere near to the pi heads? I was thinking of picking up a set of non pi's and gaket porting them, you know the old school way. Even if I do succedd at the port matching, will the pi manifold ever bolt up or not. I can find non pi heads for a dime these days, and think it might be worth the 200 dollars saved to put a little port matching time in. If these wont work just say so....and I want to run stage 2 vt's in em if that matters.

RE: Non Pi heads...worth the problem?
It will be almost impossible to do any hand port job by yourself and do anythign but hurt performance.
The NPI heads can be professionally ported to outflow stock PI heads... but PI heads can be ported to outflow ported NPI heads, so why start off with the crap NPI stuff?
You can buy an adapter kit to mount a PI intake onto the NPI heads, but once again its more expense for nothing. start with the PI heads.

Hmmm....well screw that. I think I am going to go with a stock gt crank and iron block....I think. Where is the cheapest place to pick these up, and how much should I be paying for them?
