its an auto so im guessing just smoke the tires a little before the race, get em nice and warm, then hold the brake in and give it gas toi the point right before your tires start to spin, then let off the brake and there is yourt launch, i think thats how you sdhould do it with an auto? correct me guys

sounds good, thats the best your gonna get all stock. but just dont floor it. ease into the gas hard to reduce tire spin. play with it a little.

Your car won't like you for it, haha. Now I have a 5spd, but every car prior was an auto. I used to put it in first and runs the gears, and it never made much difference. Plus, some say that's bad for the tranny, but i don't know about that...But just put it in drive, and let it idle, I would NOT recommend revving against your brakes! Just be be quick off the brakes and onto the gas. Use both feet, left for brake, right for gas. And like said above, when starting out, it just enough gas to where the tires just start to break loose a little and when you get going and the wheels are grabbing good, put the pedal to the floor and hang on, haha. I mean, if you ask me, an auto in a drag race is probably better, faster shifts and doesn't burn the tires off the line as bad, depending on tires. I'm not the best driver, and having a stick hurts me off the line, because it's a little tricky to get the right gas/clutch pattern to where I don't burn the tires. So, as far as racing, esspecially if you get a shift kit setup, I'd have to say an auto is better. But as far as driving fun, and burnouts and sliding turns (none of which I do, I swear! haha) a manual is the way to go. They're a lot more fun to drive, allows you to control your car a lot more with a stick...

The sooner you can get to full throttle the better.Hold the brake and push the gas untill just before you start to move.Experiment with this before you get to the track. It's OK to shift manually but just don't hit reverse by mistake[:'(]Get a shift kit or a tune that changes the shift pionts.

I'm an auto too, and I have done all of the above things....an aftermarket tourqe converter (which I don't have) will allow you to reach higher RPM's while holding the brake on. Gives a lil better launch. But, yea resist the urge to slam the pedal down when light turns green, you'll break traction, especially if your not stock.

I actually posted a new thread yesterday about chip suggestions for an automatic 97 GT. I don't think they make a diablo chip for pre 99's... and yea I heard the hypertech was crap from quite a few ppl, so I am open to suggestions because it will be a couple of months until I purchase the gears and the chip. Thanx!
