Default A/C refrigerant

My A/C hasn't worked since I bought the car. The A/C clutch spins once in a while, I know I have to replace that but I want to know if it dosen't spin, would that cause my A/C not to cool or could it be that the refrigerant is low?

Sounds like its going off because of low pressure in the system. Go buy a guage and put it on there and see what the reading says. That will tell youif your low. It`s really easy to do.
