i dont think fuel is the problem, hed be having problems no matter what rpm hes at.. id check ur throttle cable and the throttle body itself, check to make sure no vacuum lines have disconnected (happened to me and ran lean) get some carb cleaner spray the inside of the tb and clean it.
you're not supposed to spray the tb with anything. it has an anti-sludge coating from the factory, according to the hayne's manual.

if the fuel filter is only letting a set amount through the line, why wouldn't it manifest itself more obviously at higher rpms? he needs more fuel at high rpms than at idle, no? maybe he is having symptoms at a lower rpm, they just aren't obvious because the motor doesn't need a buttload of fuel.

Ok, so the car was goin fine all this morning, my friend checked it out and it drove fine. We changed the fuel filter anyway. After a couple hours, it started up agian. My friend drove it and said it sounded like the governor was faulty. Any ideas? This sound about right? I have a year warranty on the new tranny, so im hopin its covered.

can you get up to speed on light throttle? if you can get past a certain speed its not the govornor. do you have any cel's? i say you take it to the ford dealership and say this started happening after u replaced the tranny. i think itsa fuel or sparkproblem. check all your vacum lines too make sure none are off or disconected.

possibly the transmission govenor...that controls the pressure when its suppose to shift ....(pretty much controls pressures)

could be the pump in the tranny causing the torque converter to slip at certain times too... these damn autos are toooo confusing. lol. which would be basically the pressure inside the tranny making it shift sooner and the torque converter could be slipping making it jumpy..
