Default Turn-downs or Tips...’96

Hey, Guys. I recently had 40 series Delta Flows and 3" tips installed on my car. It sounds pretty good when I mash the throttle, but I never thought it was loud. Tonight, while driving through a mall parking lot, I heard a guy say 'God d@mn...that's loud.'

Anyways, my question is, with a stock h-pipe, would I be more satisfied with turn-downs or should I stick with my tips?

I want my car to have a loud but aggressive tone...especially at idle. (I'm tired of F-bodies pulling beside me and revving their engine.) I want something that sounds SERIOUS at idle - WOT.

Thanks in advance!

Kind of...I think. In my opinion, the louder the better. At idle, the 40 series delta flows don't seem much louder than stock.

I am inquiring about turn-downs because I assume, with the exhaust being directed straight to the ground, it will sound 100 times louder than what I currently have.

Until I hit the lottery, I think my car will remain stock...I just want non-Stang f$ckers to stop messin' with me. (That's why I want the louder exhaust. It will at least sound like my GT has a pair!)

Turn down's will do just that...turn down the volume.

Invest in some electric cut-outs and nobody unfamiliar of the sound of open headers will mess with ya.

uhh... how bout some headers and a nice X pipe? your car will not only be louder.... but will have that distinct tone that only headers can give. you wont have any backpressure, and trust me, i almost never hear a mustang that sounds anything like mine, and i see them everyday. to get the sound you are seeking, you cant get around it. you got to get rid of allthat backpressure.

replace the mufflers with 40 series flowmasters non deltaflows, the "delta" in the muffler is supposed to aid in muffling the car. as far as turndowns or tips, id go with tips and a good set of shorty headers. you wont pass inspection with turndows either.

The delta doesn't have JACK s**t to do with muffling the car.

It's designed to induce a vacume in the muffler and increase the scavanging effect in the exhaust.

my friend had delta flow 40 seires on his mustang, switched to non deltaflows and it was louder. anything inpedeing the path of the exhaust flow will have an affect on the overall tone and loudness.
