RE: clutch packs wore out
hmmm, I would get a new eaton posi, BUT thats a lot of bling bling. go to a ford store and get the clutch pack rebuild kit and some new fluid. take your brakes outt, pull your axles out, pop off your cover and your pretty much ready to do it yourself. soak the new parts in the gear oil for 24 hours tho so they dont wear out. CLUTCH PACK REBUILD KIT FTW no more than 100 dollars and ur tires be burning yo

Domesticlover has laid out the basics, here's a couple tips:If you have ABS you need to remove therear wheel sensors, or pull 'em back 1/2" or so--if this is not done the ABS reluctor wheels will hit the sensors and possibly damage them when you push the axles in to remove the C-clips.Make sure when you keep track of what shims were on each side when pull the carrier out, so that you can getthings backtogether the same way--this will perserve the backlash as it was before taking it apart. This is more importantg than it sounds because used gears don't like having their relative positions changed. When you soak the t-lok frictions use a gear oil with friction modifier in it (most synthetics do), or pure modifier; also 24-hours is the right amount of time. I prefer to use gear that does not contain FM as that let's me play with the ration of FM to oil, using a bit less than the recommended 3.8-4.0 oz. (I use 2.5 to start) will make the t-lok more aggressive. One last thing, 'twas me I'd use this as an opportunity to install 3.73 gears, if you have not already done so. By the time you get the carrier out you'llhave 75% of the work done.
