Default Tires!

Ok, so I've noticed my rear tires are really starting to wear. I have a hard time getting traction when I shift to second....maybe it's the cold weather, but I think I will need new tires soon. I currently have the Goodyear F1 GS tires 275/40/17. I got a hell of deal on them (120 each), so any suggestions on new tires?? It's my daily driver, but I would like to take it to the track sometime. Would Nitto's be about the same quality as the F1's??

I would run nittos anyday before the goodyears, or really almost anything else. I even prefer em over the BFGs.

Go with nitto NT555Rs up front and the NT555R drag radials out back. They are not too bad in nasty weather (they were acutally better than my worn out BFG regulars) and are great for traction.

You can expect the d/rs to last from 10 to 15K if you arnt constantly beating on them (i havent seen very much tire wear in almost 7K miles).

if you can afford drag radials then do it. otherwise, i love the yokohama avs es 100s that i have on all four corners on my cobra.

oh, and yes, you are not getting traction because it is getting colder. this is the first winter that i have owned a v8, and i notice that when i accelerate hard in second, it does not grab too well.

Yeah, it seems you guys like Nitto's around here. There must be a good reason for that, so I'll probably look into the Nitto 555 DR's.

would it be smart to put nitto's up front? i know you don't mean the drag radials but would it matter?

I would say save your money for up front 555R's unless u plan on rotating your tires. I also heard that nitto 555R's handle bad around turns and make a lot of noise when daily driving b/c they are a drag radial for going straight. Does anyone know how true that is?

well first off, do you get snow where you live? if you do i wouldn't worry about getting d/r's i would go and get some nice snow tires, and then get some steel rims for your car, because i wouldn't want those rims gettin eatin away by the salt, and with the snow tires and rims, u can just swap them off in the fall and then in the spring, but if not, then go for the d/r's, but seen as how i have snow 9 months outta the year i decided to just use some decenbt snow tires year round, not bad for burnouts in the summer lol, leave a lot of black , wait no one does that here :O
