Default LTs and low end

Well my car feels a hell of a lot slower off the line now that I have the LTs. A friend of mine suggested that I should get some high flow cats on my o/r H to add some more back pressure. I was also thinking about getting 4.10s to take care of the low end but my car hits 2500 rpms at 70mph in 5th which according to the calculator I should have 4.10s in it already? Also I am at 5800 rpms at 105mph in 4th... shouldn't 4th be good up to 130? The car was bone stock when I bought it and the low end doesn't feel too good that is why I don't think I have 4.10s.

Any suggestions on the LT/cat and the gears?

There is no way around the feeling you have with the loss in TQ from the long tubes. The loss in back pressure just gives that impression. Some people also complain about a loss in low end TQ when they put a cat back or mid pipe on their car. But that feeling is going to happen anytime there is a loss in back pressure. Some people feel it, others don't.

And you for sure have gears. When I had my GT with the stock gears, I was topping out3rd gear at around 100MPH, and you are at the top of4th at 105MPH. And In my Cobra with the stock 3.55 gears, I'm at the top of 4th at around 120MPH. I think you have 4.10's or maybe higher. It's probably whatever ratio the gear calculator says.

Thanks for the info. I am gonna jack the rear up today to do my rear passanger brake caliper and I am gonna try the turning the drive shaft trick to see what gears I have.

BTW, you have a bad *** exhaust set up! DON'T change it. Leave it cat less. Adding cats wont give you back the back pressure you lost. When you installed the headers, they are also a larger diameter than stock. That causes a loss in back pressure also.

With the Long Tubes, I'm sure you gained HP and TQ all the way across your powerband. You should feel it up top the most.

I know I love my exhaust set up. I was thinking about changing out my 40 series with the super 44s.

If you do, PLEASE post some clips. I have been interested in what they sound like on a 4.6

Will do after I get my JLT intake. The exhaust shop said that if they take my weld in Flows out for another muffler they will have to custom fab some pipe which will cost some more money so the 44s will have to wait a couple weeks or so. A friend of mine with the same year stang and same exhuast set up might be getting the 44s also. So if he has his before I get mine one of us will put a clip up.
